Safety remains a top priority at Martinsville City Public Schools, and we’re proud to announce another major milestone in our commitment to protecting students and staff. This week, a team from ClearDefense Window Film of Virginia installed delayed entry window film at Clearview Early Learning Center—completing a division-wide safety upgrade across all MCPS schools!
Window film is designed to absorb and disperse impact, making it significantly harder for an intruder to break through glass and gain entry. MCPS began installing this protective layer several years ago, beginning with Martinsville Middle School. Now, every school in our district is equipped with this important security measure.
This installation is just one of the ways MCPS continues to lead the way in school safety. In 2021, MCPS became the first school division in Virginia to install protective Window Armor in its buildings, beginning with Martinsville High School. We were also the first division in the state to install a gunshot detection system in all schools and recently partnered with the Martinsville Police Department to upgrade our district-wide security camera system. These initiatives ensure that both school officials and law enforcement have the tools they need to respond quickly in an emergency.
With each step, we’re reinforcing our commitment to keeping students and staff as safe as possible.
