English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes are designed for foreign-born, non-English speaking adults and those whose first language is not English. The classes are focused on improving English skills for jobs, continuing education, enhanced involvement with children's education, and citizenship preparation. There are four components to our classroom instruction: speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Our classes are divided into beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. During registration, students are given an assessment that will determine their placement in the most appropriate class.
Classes are offered on a semester system. The fall semester is from August through mid-December and the spring semester is from January through mid-May.
Classes meet two days per week: Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Registration is generally held in August and January. The registration process for ESOL classes takes approximately 30 minutes and includes a skill assessment. All classes are free to the public.
