Wellness Policy

Martinsville City Public Schools' Student Wellness Policy is a comprehensive initiative designed to promote the health and well-being of our students. The wellness policy encompasses a variety of strategies and programs aimed at enhancing nutrition, physical activity, and overall wellness throughout our school community.

Why Wellness and Nutrition Matter in a Learning Environment

We recognize that student wellness is crucial for academic success and personal growth. Proper nutrition and regular physical activity have been shown to significantly impact students' ability to concentrate, learn, and perform well academically. By fostering a healthy environment, we aim to improve not only students' physical health but also their mental and emotional well-being. This holistic approach ensures that students are well-equipped to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

The wellness policy includes:

  • Nutrition Standards: Ensuring all meals meet or exceed federal and state nutrition guidelines.

  • Physical Activity: Encouraging daily physical activity through various school programs and initiatives

  • Health Education: Providing students with the knowledge and skills to make healthy choices.
