Endowment
The MCPS Endowment began in 2007 as a component fund of the Martinsville Area Community Foundation. There have been 198 grants awarded to date, totaling $174,752 in funding and benefitting students at every city school.
These creative instructional grants are for innovative learning activities that would not otherwise be possible in a school’s budget. Just think of some of the cool, hands-on projects teachers could do to bring lessons alive for their students with the funds from this endowment!
Past grant projects include:
School gardens at Patrick Henry and Albert Harris Elementary Schools
A parent-child health workshop at Clearview Early Learning Center
Stream testing with the Virginia Museum of Natural History for middle school science classes
Shark dissection at Martinsville High School
Book vending machines at Patrick Henry Elementary School
